The Mortal Instruments

Talk about an mind-blowing, piece of work this novel is. It is extremely noteworthy and for those who have not read it yet….SHAME ON YOU. Get up and go buy this series right now before I go ballistic. This is by far one of the best series I have ever read and believe me I’ve read some extraordinary series. And for those who have read this book and have seen the movie, we were pretty let down. It was okay… But some major scenes were missing and locations that were KEY to this novel. The fight scene at the end…i hated it. It was all wrong wrong wrong! Well before i start blabbing my head off lets hear what you guys have to say and send me your comments and opinions on this book turned movie

Vampire Academy

As you all know this book has become a movie! But before you see the movie….READ THE BOOK. As seen in the trailers, this book already appears more comedic than the underlying story is. For all those who have not read this book, read no further unless you want to hear spoilers. ANYWAYS, we all know that Rosemarie Hathaway,is in short, a kickass fighter who loves Dimitri Belikov aka her mentor. Although the mantra“‘they come first’” is brainwashed into guardians since they were born…here’s my questions: Why such selflessness? I would be the first to say what about my life? My future, who I want to be?! Don’t I deserve happiness? Is it so wrong to want to be more than just some faceless guardian like every ( well not EVERY) other dhampir? Yes their race is in danger, but that’s just an excuse. Dhampirs could mingle with humans, AS HUMANS, and have babies and families and lives without the moroi. Yes there are other technicalities about who then would be the guardians blah blah blah…but think about this and reply with your feedback, book suggestions, topics you’d like to discuss, etc. and remember: keep calm and read a book.

SCHOOL BOOKS, AWFUL, BUT ARE THEY REALLY?

Everyone has to read books in school. You have to read, annotate, write essays,etc. and its soooo awful! All of this work, but for good reason. Ever heard of Oedipus rex? Tragic story. Again if you have not read this novel and are interested in reading it, read no further due to VERY revealing spoilers. As I was saying, tragic. Guy marries his mom, kills his father, and eventually stabs his eyes out….yeah. Well, in class we were discussing how Fate plays a role in the novel. Did Oedipus really have any choice, but to follow through to this horrible outcome? Pertaining to today, do we really have a choice? Are all of our lives planned out and are we following this schedule of our own lives? On the brighter side of things, do we shape our own destiny? Are we free to make our own choices? I know when you first saw my user Book High you were PROBABLY thinking: oh wow! this person must be a loser and have no life. Who even reads books anymore? Well I'm here to represent all the book lovers who well, love to read! On my new blog I'll post comments about commonly read books, books of "literary merit", crappy books, awesome books, books that became movies, you name it. I'll give my honest opinion and you post your opinion as well. Remember be civil about it, everyone is entitled to their own opinion so simply AGREE TO DISAGREE.
