SCHOOL BOOKS, AWFUL, BUT ARE THEY REALLY?

Everyone has to read books in school. You have to read, annotate, write essays,etc. and its soooo awful! All of this work, but for good reason. Ever heard of Oedipus rex? Tragic story. Again if you have not read this novel and are interested in reading it, read no further due to VERY revealing spoilers. As I was saying, tragic. Guy marries his mom, kills his father, and eventually stabs his eyes out….yeah. Well, in class we were discussing how Fate plays a role in the novel. Did Oedipus really have any choice, but to follow through to this horrible outcome? Pertaining to today, do we really have a choice? Are all of our lives planned out and are we following this schedule of our own lives? On the brighter side of things, do we shape our own destiny? Are we free to make our own choices?
